Liberal Arts and Sciences

I have a keen interest in the liberal arts an sciences. In academics, one of the most common questions I hear is, "Why do I have to learn that? I'll never use it." This frequently refers to math and English courses under my direction. It may be difficult to discern the importance of something that is tough to measure, such as critical thinking and problem solving. As students learn through liberal arts education, they learn about others, about themselves, and about connections with the world. There have been students who thought they would never use the material they learned, but years later, thanked their instructors, as it helped them to land the jobs of their dreams - something they never thought they would use!
