Past Projects

Michigan American Council on Education Women’s Network (MI-ACE)

From 2006 - 2016 I served as an Institutional Representative for MI - ACE.  I also served on the Executive Board in 2008.  The Michigan ACE Women’s Network is committed to identifying, developing the leadership of, advancing, and supporting the retention of women in higher education throughout the state. I attended these conferences that were based on the support of females, but I have, and always will treat people of both genders with respect, equality, and fairness.  I have included the website to MI-ACE to the left for your perusal.

Understanding by Design (UbD) Steering Committee

In 2009, I was a part of a steering committee for a UbD curriculum design initiative. The fundamental premise of UbD, by Grant Wiggins,  is “Teaching for Understanding” by beginning our course design with the “end in mind.” I led campus meetings that focused on implementation strategies.  Much of the discussion focused on best practices and developing processes to integrate assessment, curriculum, and instruction with a focus on student-centered learning.  Check out the pdf to the left to see more information about our Understanding by Design process.

Curriculum Design

Early Childhood Collection

The Early Childhood Education program was strongly supported by our library collections.  Faculty required students to check out children's books for in-class assignments and outside readings.  The collections were especially helpful to students in their internships when they needed to bring books to read to the children.

My familiarity with the books was helpful when students would come in to request books on certain topics.  The Word document on the right is a listing of the colleges in Michigan and the person in charge of the collections.  You'll see me listed there!

Curriculum Materials Center and Collections

As the Director of Academic Resources, I was in charge of the Library, Learning Center, Writing Center, and Math Lab.  Walls were physically knocked down to form a larger, more open, learning commons.  The areas were combined to form the "Academic Resource Center."

Baker College Writing Conference

Baker College held an annual writing conference every year.  Each time, it was held at a different campus.  At the time it was held in Allen Park, we created a guide for the conference.  You may find it located here.

Our conferences were always planned very well with instructors from our own college.  We tapped into our own professionals who knew the culture and the expectations of our college campus. We selected presentations for breakout rooms and collaborated with one another for an exceptional learning experience!
